Nathan
Founder and Teacher
I started The Rising Stars Tutoring because I believe a tutor’s role goes far beyond helping with homework or preparing for a test. Students thrive when they feel supported, safe to make mistakes, and encouraged by someone who genuinely cares.
With a background in psychology and years of experience teaching and tutoring, I’ve seen how the right mix of passion, patience, and individualized teaching can completely transform a student’s confidence and motivation.
Over the past three years, I’ve helped high school and university students across Victoria turn struggles into strengths, whether that meant going from failing to scoring 90% on a final, or simply learning to believe in their own abilities again.
I built Rising Stars to bring that same transformation to more families, ensuring every student has access to tutors who are not only skilled, but also kind, adaptable, and invested in their growth.
Girija
Science Teacher
Science has always been the way I make sense of the world. I have been especially fascinated by the human body and how every system works in harmony. That curiosity led me to complete a Biology degree at the University of Victoria and later a Master of Medical Sciences at Boston University.
I get so excited whenever I learn something new about how our bodies function, and I love being able to share that same excitement with others.
Some of my most meaningful experiences have been teaching and mentoring. At the University of Victoria, I supported students in biology labs as they built their skills and confidence. I have also worked closely with neurodivergent students, which showed me how important it is to adapt teaching styles so that every learner feels supported and capable.
Tutoring brings these passions together. For me, it is not only about helping someone understand a concept but also about sparking curiosity, building confidence, and showing that learning science can be both approachable and rewarding.

Asees
STEM Specialist and Passionate Tutor
I earned my degree in Mechanical Engineering with Distinction, specializing in biomedical applications. That experience gave me a strong foundation in mathematics and advanced sciences, but more importantly, it taught me how to think critically, approach problems with curiosity, and break down complex concepts into steps that are easier to understand—all skills I now bring into tutoring.
During and after university, I discovered my passion for entrepreneurship. I founded my first startup, and later led marketing at a deep tech biotech company. Those experiences showed me the power of creativity and communication, sharpening my writing and storytelling skills while giving me the confidence to simplify even the most technical ideas for any audience.
Through all of this, teaching has been a constant thread. For over eight years I’ve tutored students from elementary through university levels in math, science, and writing. Whether helping younger learners or supporting students with challenges in learning, I’ve always loved adapting my approach to each student and creating a positive, engaging environment where they can grow.
For me, tutoring is about more than academics, it’s about building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and helping students discover their own strengths. That’s what keeps bringing me back to it.
